As Christ-believers, we should not be like these people. We should also not be heart-broken and hopeless. Jesus is the same today, yesterday, and forever! So, if He could heal people about 2000 years ago, He can still do it today. What can we do then to bring God's healing power to our loved one?
1. Pray for them
When we pray, we surrender ourselves to God, we let Him take control and we acknowledge His supreme power over everything in our lives.
"I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven" (Matthew 18:19). He also promised His disciples, "I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father" (John 14:13).
When we pray, we also exercise God's power in our life. God gives His power to believers. We just pray and let God release His power through us.
James 5: 16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results.
2. God's Words of comfort and encouragement
Our wisdom is limited. Our words have no power at all. So, why not read and share God's words of wisdom and His promises for Joy, peace, love and fruitful life?
Hebrews 13:5
“… for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
Proverbs 17: 22
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
John 14:27:
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
3. Offer them help during the process of healing
People with cancer sometimes need help to do things that they aren't able to do during their process of healing. We can offer to buy medicine, cook for them or give them food that can give physical strength. Another thing we can do is accompany them to go to the hospital for treatment or pick them up to Church. Just ask them what they need that we can help them with.
Matthew 7: 12
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
4. Adopt Christ-focused attitude
Finally, help ourselves and our loved one to learn to see things from Christ's point of view not ours. For example, don't ask God 'WHY" (Why is this happening to me? Why is this happening to my loved one?). The more appropriate questions we can ask God should start with WHAT: Lord, what are you saying to me through all this? or Father, what do you want me to learn, or what do you wish for me to do?"
So, keep the faith and help others to keep their faith.
God bless you, all.
